Workforce Qualification for Logistics Shop Floor Workers and Students (Floor Walkers)

Development of a tailored staff qualification concept for BMW's first Mexican plant, ensuring a smooth ramp-up by analyzing logistics systems and integrating innovative training methods. The program includes theoretical and practical training, using material flow games and a model factory for hands-on learning for shop floor workers and local university students. The results: More than 1000 shop floor workers and more than 130 students sucessfully trained with a post-internship rate of 55% students employed by BMW

EASEE's Safety and Reliability in Charging Solutions

PEM Motion helped EASEE, a Norwegian EV charging developer, address safety and regulatory challenges. In late 2022, PEM Motion resolved compliance issues for EASEE's Home & Charge product in Germany. In 2023, facing a Swedish sales ban, PEM Motion developed new technical documentation for EASEE's Charger, ensuring EU compliance. They also assessed the safety of EASEE's Charge Core product, proving it met IEC 61508 standards. PEM Motion's expertise and support restored customer trust and ensured ongoing product safety.

FluxLiCon: Intelligent and Flexible Second-Life Battery System for Municipal Charging Infrastructure

PEM Motion leads the FluxLiCon project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, to develop a modular, stationary storage system using second-life EV batteries. The project aims to construct two prototypes in Germany for integration into pilot municipalities and create a Trusted Platform for OEMs to monitor battery performance. FluxLiCon addresses the challenge of repurposing used EV batteries to minimize waste and support the EU Green Deal's sustainable energy goals.

PEM Motion and Henkel Forge Strategic Partnership to Pioneer Battery Technology

PEM Motion entered into a strategic partnership with Henkel’s E-Mobility Business Unit to advance battery technology development, research material requirements, and enhance battery sustainability and safety. The collaboration, headquartered in Düsseldorf, aims to tackle key challenges in electromobility. PEM Motion, led by Professor Achim Kampker, offers consulting and engineering services, focusing on product design, business development, prototyping, and testing. The partnership includes joint conference presentations, expert days, and events at Henkel’s new Inspiration Center.

PEM Motion Supported Zeller+Gmelin in New Orientation

PEM Motion teamed up with Zeller+Gmelin GmbH & Co. KG from Eislingen to support the chemical sector company's strategic shift towards e-mobility. Zeller+Gmelin, known for its "Divinol" engine and transmission oils, saw significant potential in coolants and related products for thermal management in batteries, fuel cells, electric motors, and power electronics. PEM Motion's expertise in e-mobility and strategic market entry facilitated this transition, leveraging their Fit4E industrial consulting project, which has successfully prepared over 30 companies for the e-mobility market.

LV Battery and BMS Development and Production

PEM Motion has partnered with various companies in the mobility industry to provide custom BMS solutions, and one of our recent success stories is our collaboration with Pave Motors. Our team designed a BMS specifically tailored for their next-generation bike-motorcycle hybrid, enabling a fun, functional, and fully connected riding experience. With the support of PEM Motion, Pave Motors was able to achieve a smooth integration of the BMS and battery, ensuring a high-quality and reliable product. At PEM Motion, we’re committed to revolutionizing the future of mobility with our innovative BMS solutions.

TUMI E-learning Courses

Client: GIZ, TUMI


Three free MOOCs on E-Mobility, E-Buses, and 2&3-Wheelers have been created to empower global decision-makers, students, and professionals. Each course spans 6 weeks, with a weekly commitment of 3 to 4 hours. The curriculum includes expert interviews, case studies, and guest lectures. The format is 100% online, with asynchronous (on-demand) classes for flexibility. With one run per course, over 1,095 learners from all over the world have enrolled and 93% of participants reported gaining new knowledge and skills from the course. The countries with the most enrollments have been Kenya, India, Germany, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Zambia, Brazil, Colombia, Tanzania, the US, and Mexico.

H2Bus: Boosting Electric Bus Range with Modular Retrofit Kits

The H2Bus project aims to extend the range of battery electric buses with modular retrofit kits using customized fuel cell systems. The project focuses on developing cost-effective fuel cell systems in Germany, reducing production costs, and validating the results through real-world tests. PEM Motion, responsible for designing the battery system and bus homologation, supports the project by ensuring sustainable urban mobility.

STAFFEL: Revolutionizing Relay Traffic with AI-Enabled Data Platform

The STAFFEL project in Germany, aims to transform road haulage with an AI-supported platform for data-based relay traffic. The project seeks to reduce long-haul transportation time by 30% and increase vehicle utilization by 50%. It also aims to decrease truck parking needs and parking search traffic while creating a better working environment for drivers. PEM Motion is developing an intelligent kingpin lock, with progress including a patent application, ongoing hardware/software revisions, and completed CAD design for the safety mechanism.

Innovative E-Motors – PEM Teams Up with Marelli

PEMentered a framework agreement with Marelli, a leading Japanese-Italian automotive supplier. This collaboration focuses on new technologies for electric vehicles and related manufacturing processes. Professor Achim Kampker, founder of PEM, highlights the importance of strong networks and innovation. Marelli, having opened a new plant for EV motors in Cologne,works with PEM on research projects aimed at enhancing the performance of electric motors and developing new e-motor production methods. The partnership also explores energy and battery management solutions, leveraging Marelli’s expertise in thermal management.

Consortium Project on Lithium Battery Recycling in Costa Rica

PEM Motion and partners, including GIZ Costa Rica and RWTH Aachen University, led a battery training course at the University of Costa Rica, focusing on production, recycling, and repurposing of batteries. This initiative, part of a larger project, aimed to develop a sustainable battery recycling ecosystem and increase local expertise in Costa Rica. The project supports Costa Rica’s “Decarbonization Plan 2050,” which targets 30% electric vehicle use by 2035. By improving recycling capabilities, the project helps maintain Costa Rica’s leadership in sustainable technologies and fosters economic growth and innovation.
